KX2 spare Thumb nut

I managed to lose one of the black Thumbnuts on my KX2 that holds the back panel in place. Does anyone know of a UK source to avoid me paying US postage from Elecraft?

I have had a look on ebay but most similar nuts are Metric or come from China.

The spec is in Imperial: 4/40 3/8D, 1/4L, Elecraft part number E700338

Thanks Neil M0NJH

You could try using the reflector search facility Neil

My maths textbooks had the answers at the back so you knew if you got it right.

The best ones were when the answer at the back was wrong.

If you find mistakes in Knuth’s ā€œThe Art of Computer Programmingā€ series he sends you a cheque. I think my copy of Searching and Sorting is old enough to have errors in it.

I’m sure he’ll send you your cheque for two bob in reward.

Thought the second line was:

Thanks Alex - as I suspected it is difficult to get the imperial measurement nuts in the UK, so have ordered from China.

My KX3 has been on 1 leg for years as the head broke off the thumb screw on my rig and I was not trying hard to break it either. Yes I contacted Elecraft and they suggested I get a screw locally to replace it. Good luck finding the right thread I was very lucky to have 2 small screws the right thread to replace it because the same screw is involved with keeping the outer case on as well.

Thanks for the suggestions… my pack of 4/40 nuts arrived this morning, fit perfectly and hopefully bright enough to find if I drop one again!

PTFE plumbing tape on the threads will stop them coming loose through vibration and stop you undoing them too far.
