KO4YLZ is a Mountain Goat

Dave, KO4YLZ, achieved Mountain Goat status yesterday afternoon, 3/30/23, on the summit of Roan High Knob W4T/SU-005. Dave is a fairly new Ham who jumped into SOTA with both feet from the very beginning. He activated his first summit on 4/24/22 and set a goal of achieving Mountain Goat within one year! Not only did he achieve that goal, but he accomplished it in just over 11 months with entirely unique activations! This may not be a first, but it is surely a very rare accomplishment.

I have had the pleasure of accompanying Dave on many of his SOTA adventures over the past several months. He started his SOTA adventure operating SSB and just a few months ago began operating on CW as well.

Thanks Mike. Your QSO certainly did contribute and looking forward to many more…with better CW on my part. BTW…I grew up just down the road from you in LaGrangeVille and spent a lot of days climbing in the Gunks. 73

Hey George! Thank you for all the great advice. Because of your input, one of my next goals is to activate without the use of Sotawatch and refine the art of knowing where to listen and listening. I’ll let you know how that goes. 73
