If there are trees on the summit, I have found that two trekking poles together can be used to place the wire even higher onto branches, adding your own height to that of the trekking poles. I find it safer than just throwing the wire over a branch and hoping it doesn’t get snagged.

Yes, works very well. Removed just a bit of handle material from each Leki pole, using the end of a belt sander, such that each handle could “nest” the other pole’s shaft. Then lashed together and fully extended. Gets antenna up to about 8 feet. See pix. K9PM photo
