Just a quick thank you….

I just wanted to say a big thank you to all those activators and chasers who took the time to work me during our recent trip to northern England and Scotland. 20 summits in 27 days not too bad.

Particular thanks due to the Aberdeen crew for sound advice as well as great friendship and quality banter.

Well done on all of those activations Denis. Thanks for the completes, chases, S2S’s and most of all, to Dawn, for the tea before I set up Glas Maol for 145 Alive.

What an absolutely brilliant trip Denis. Well done indeed on all those summits. Many thanks for the Completes and especially those times when you have returned to 40m to pick me (and others) up as a straggler. Due to various commitments I wasn’t able to be around for many of your summits, but I enjoyed those contacts that we managed. I suppose I should now ask, “where to next?”…

Always a pleasure, Gerald.

As to where next….I’m a bit bound by domestic duties for a little while now but hoping to get up to mid and north Wales in the next couple of weeks.

Tomorrow, I will be mostly tackling a very overgrown garden

Well done indeed Dennis. Sorry our trips didn’t coincide as we start driving north next Tuesday (13th!) to get to Culloden the next day for 3 nights then north of Inverness for a little try at GM/NS wee summits 17-24 (and some Pictish stones). A gradual return south via Newtonmore 24 - 29 and a quick splash (deluge?) near Loch Lomond 29 - 1 June before the trip down south again. I envy you for your visit to ES-land as we enjoyed the hills so much in 2023 we returned for a second year to the same cottages - and, of course, the Aberdeen crew! Unfortunately we couldn’t find an adequate excuse to return for a 3rd try - especially with Fraser sunning himself in Florida!
Sorry we will miss your projected trip to mid and north Wales but hope there will be many more chances - especially if I can entice you on to 2m fm and 70cm!!. BTW if you run out of garden to tame you could always pop round and have a go at ours while we’re away as we aren’t that far away. I look forward to our meeting before too long.

Hiya, Viki,

Sounds like you’ve got a great itinerary planned. Since my partner and I got together, we try to get to eastern Scotland twice a year. She lived in Aberdeen for 20 years so has a lot of friends in the area and I love the quiet and isolation of the Cairngorms compared to places like North Wales and the Lakes. I’m not the most sociable of people and I head to the hills to escape the crowd

I’m hoping to do a few 1-point SW hills tomorrow (Weds) but not sure what yet and planning Garway Hill on Friday as part of a longer walk with a mate. I can try 2m on anything I do but haven’t found it very successful in SW, particularly during the week.

There’s a plan brewing for a trip to the Bala area over the bank holiday weekend and I’ve got my eye on a few hills there but we’ll be going with a few friends so not sure how many I’ll be able to sneak in.

As to gardening m, you’re on your own . Taken two days to get it looking like it did before we went away. My back is not one of those built for gardening
