What’s better on the last day on JA5/Shikoku than combining SOTA and beach? See, thought so
Close to Tokushima is a beach-park called Ōmiko Park. It’s a 25 min bus ride from the central station.
From there we walked to the summit. There is a gently winding tarmac road, but we used the short-cuts via the stairs. It was “atsui desu ne”, aka bl**dy warm already, but we pushed on with extra care because of the warning signs for the mamushi snakes (this is a venomous snake).
The view from 190m was great and there was a bench and a nice tree to throw in the antenna and get on-air.
Cdx were a lot better and the K-index was 2-. I ended with 41 CW QSO’s with 3 S2S on 40 & 30m (20m.seemed.dead).
Then it was time to head to the lovely quiet beach and enjoy the last sunshine on Shikoku, before heading to Osaka tomorrow.
And this concludes my radio-adventures on Shikoku. What a joy it was. I wish I could have activated more summits, but… circumstances. Thanks heaps to all JA activators and chasers, and the DX’ers from Korea and Taiwan.
