I am currently in Shikoku, Japan walking the Shikoku Henro trail. Along the route are a few SOTA-summits so I got a guest-license and brought my radio along. I made some QSO’s already and today was the first chance for a SOTA-activation .
We slept at a guesthouse at the bottom of a cable car station and in the morning we took a ride up to visit the temple Tairyuuji, temple 21 of 88 along the route. This is one of the most beautiful temples so we took our time.
But then the SOTA-vibes got stronger and we made our way to the summit. I was briefly surprised we were there already, since the GPS-device was fixed to a previous position. A nice place to setup the antenna, 2x25 ft wire which tuned well. Conditions didn’t seem to good but I made 13 QSO’s on 20m and 3 on 40m before wrapping up as it started to rain a bit more.
