Today the plan was to activate JA5/EH-001, Mount Ischizuchi, one of the 7 sacred mountains of Japan, and the highest mountain in Shikoku island. Since it’s Golden Week, I expected it to be crowded.
The trip started with a busride from Saijo-City to the ropeway station, which takes you up to 1400+ meters.
From there the path goes slightly up, then down, and then the pain starts with a gazillion stairs, almost all the way to the top. There was still some snow.
All pain is forgotten when you reach the summit. And… it was crowded. You can’t go to the actual summit on a crowded day like it was today, so I had to find a spot in the AZ.
Since the K-index was 4, and I could only throw the wires in the shrubbery and obviously the clouds came and the temperature plunged,.the activation was short with 7 QSO’s with 1 S2S to Tokushima’s highest mountain.
There were 2 young people very interested in what I was doing. They found it magical.
Anyway, it was fun up there and I enjoyed so many people, young to old, having a great time on the summit during the holiday week.
