After a disappointingly short activation with a handful of 2m SSB contacts and only one S2S on hf (sry Lars), the surprise came on the descent.

The German astronaut Matthias Mauer on the ISS is heard on the handheld radio.

I heard him from my car yesterday. 144.800 is in my scan list. I heard him saying that he could see the fires in the Amazon rain forest when flying over South America. It still gives me goosebumps when I hear ISS.
Once I saw the Space Shuttle just behind the ISS before docking. We have a beautiful hobby :slight_smile:

I saw that too. Quite accidentally and without knowing what is happening in the night sky.
