Introducing DAGA (dagger in English), "Definitive APRS Gadget for Activators"

DAGA Website seems to be down… only for me?

SOTAMAT sounded good, I have installed the app on my Android phone, but setting it up is a nightmare and not very clear, I have registered on the website and entered my callsign and password on the app on my phone but it is saying there is a configuration error, this is very close to where I lose interest

You wont get a reply from Rob DM1CM, he doesn’t partake in SOTA and asked that his accounts were closed.

Have a read of the user guide here: https://www.sotaspots.co.uk/

I currently use a Yaesu FT5DE, to be honest, it was worth the money just to get a working APRS feature.

I tried a Mobilinkd Bluetooth APRS® TNC. but it would never connect to my phone because of Bluetooth conflicts, very frustrating.

I also tried an Anytone 878UVII+2 which is a DMR/FM 6W HT, an absolute nightmare to program, on FM though it works a dream. but I did get it working and the APRS worked albeit very basic, I never tried to send any APRSSOTA messages. It seems the software has gone a bit screwy and the APRS no longer works which probably means the software needs a reinstall and, to be honest, there are so much better things to be doing than wasting my time (that I will never get back) on.

APRS uses AX25 to send position reports but as you can see from the Sotaspots page it is probably easier to do a little bit of work beforehand and work out the message information you want to spend and write it down for reference. It does work, as long as you are in range of a digipeater.

Looks like I will be uninstalling sotamat from my phone then!

… or perhaps searching the reflector for someone who can help you with it?

Your SOTAMAT problems are because you have not created a configuration on the SOTAMAT web site. This one-time configuration is required because of how SOTAMAT works.

I responded with a much longer answer to your other post here: SOTAMAT updated with new SOTAWatch Support - #43 by AB6D

SOTAMAT does not work like other spotting systems because it is doing a trick with FT8 to encode your spotting command (summit ID, frequency, mode, etc.) and it only has 4-characters to work with. That is why you need to define a personalized configuration to your needs. You keep getting these SOTAMAT errors because you aren’t doing the required one-time setup.

There are many spotting systems available, but RBNhole and SOTAMAT are special in that they allow spotting via HF without any need for cell phone connectivity, no internet, no satellite, and no APRS digipeaters in range. RBNhole works only for CW, and SOTAMAT works for any mode. SOTAMAT can also help CW RBNhole operators post the SOTA Alert required by RBNhole.

See the link above which has links to instructions and a step-by-step YouTube video.

It is up again, sorry but there was a disk full problem.
Now you have:

  • DAGA in APRS,
  • https://daga.ea2rcf.org for info and pre activation commands,
    and
  • https://daga.ea2rcf.org:9191 for all commands and spots receiving by web app (not actually the goal of the DAGA project)
In this last choice, SOTA user and password are not saved locally, but launched against SOTA API, so if you reload the page, they must be entered again.
