It was a horrible day on Ben Newe. Windy with driven snow. 40m was closed, so I had a short pile up on 20m instead. The main aim of the day was to earn a Groundhog Day badge. This was done via a S2S on 2m with GM5ALX, which was just as well for him, as he couldn’t get his KX2 to work.
I can hear my son doing this as if he was 10 and it was 23 years ago.
I was cleaning out some boxes of dog treats from Christmas and they had bags of Silica Gel in them. They are currently being re-dessicated and will be dropped in with some SOTA gear in boxes to keep them drier. I use some food storage boxes with air tight lids .
I was on one summit where the rain kept wiping my self-spots off before I could post them. A few very choice words were lost in the wind. Thankfully a few regular chasers were monitoring my usual 2m SSB frequency and the spot came from one of them.
The more contacts made, the worse it becomes. I’ve had a few fairly large logs in my time, but the majority are reasonable and not too laborious to put on the database. Then again, I’m the sort of person that is happy to park further away from where I’m going and walk a few more steps rather than try to shoehorn my car into a space as close as possible… get my drift?
Well done persevering Fraser. After activations like that I get a sense of achievement, so I hope it’s the same for you.
