Just sharing here some great work by @EI4GNB for a modified ICOM 7100 to use safely on 8 meters and 5 meters.

Yes, we have full access to both bands in EI, so do 5 other countries for 8 meters. I’m unaware of any other country that (currently) has access to 5 meters but please correct me if there are any. EDIT: Romania granted 3kHz of access in 2016 but I think this was since rescinded.

Hopefully this is useful to any IC7100 owners out there. This is the first documented mod I have seen for 5 meters. :+1:

I have no experience on either bands, but we do have EI1MMH beacon working away on 40.013 and 60.013 here in Wicklow. Receiving it S9 on my indoor loop. No good for propagation check in my case as too close, but great for testing antennas.
