Took me a while, and several Amazon returns, to find the right case that I liked for the 705.
With this Lowepro Quickdoor case, you get the nice ‘quick door’ system and enough room for all your 705 ‘stuff’.
Usually I just carry the radio, housed in the Manuel Pellegrini case (I forget the actual brand name but it sounds like that. Made by some bloke that makes film camera stuff) along with the MAT-705+ tuner, a powerbank (for 10w), a CW key and a BNC patch cable.
You can see the bag comfortably holds all of that (Palm Pico not pictured, it is in my other Lowepro CS40 for the KX2). It also has a nice couple of pouches under the quick door. Room for an A6 notepad and a pen/pencil/crayon/writingimplementyounickedfromabookiesorargos. Plus a little flap for memory cards, or perhaps earbuds?
The outside has another pouch. I added some cables and adapters there for show. Also two handy hooks and a side handle you can use for carry (as an alternative to the vertical handle) or clip or tie something to.
One addition I made was a 3D printed facia cover for the radio. Just for extra transport protection.
For now this is the best bag I have seen for my needs. I took it on a SOTA recently and it performed great. It fits in my Savotta pack perfectly with acres of room spare for other bits and bobs.
To the left is the Hourglass Antenna (2m CW/SSB), then the Go-Box , with on top (in the bubble plastic) an ATU-100 tuner. To the right is a pouch with my headphones and below the separate 12V battery for the ATU-100, so that I can put it near the antenna feedpoint instead of near the transceiver.
Outside is the 6m Decathlon pole, and the ground anchor (I have stopped to unscrew the pin from the plastic body each time, it saves some time … hi). Extra velcro straps give some color to my backpack, and come in handy from time to time, they are ready to use.
Below is the Go-Box, I take it out of the backpack, flip open the cover, connect an antenna and it is ready to operate. It has a built in 4S2P battery (balanced charger connector on the back of the lid).
All other connections are on the small front panel to the left : antenna, power switch, battery meter, MIC and Phones, and a small amplified speaker (with ON/OFF switch) for monitoring, or letting people hear what I hear in my headphones.
The paddle is always connected, only for phone I have to connect the small K6ARK style mini microphone (seen in the back).
