I/LZ-144 Monte Soratte
Mount Soratte, a solitary mountain north of Rome, dominates the lower Tiber Valley and offers spectacular views. At the summit—home to the Hermitage of San Silvestro, built in the 6th century—there is a convenient, well-equipped area used for radio activations.
Mobile internet coverage at the summit is poor and, at times, non-existent.
Propagation was fair; 42 CW QSOs were made in an hour and a half.
The summit is also a POTA reference (IT-0542).
Access is via Via Benedetto del Soratte in Sant’Oreste (Rome); park near the closed barrier and continue on foot (a 1.8 km hike with an elevation gain of 240 m) to reach the summit in 40 minutes.
