du triffst es meiner Meinung nach auf den Punkt. Mache die gleiche Erfahrung, arbeite immer nur mit 5 W - CW. Viel wichtiger sind die condx, gute Antenne, guter Standort.
Weiterhin viel Spass mit SOTA und man hört sich…

I like to listen to the NCDXF beacons : https://www.ncdxf.org/beacon/
They start with 100W, then reduce to 10 / 1 / 0.1W
It’s surprising how many beacons can be heard with 0.1W even if they are not very loud with 100W.
Also interesting is to note that sometimes, the signal drop is not constant depending of the propagation conditions.
