Been searching some past posts and can’t seem to find how to self spot using SMS. Any information would be great thanks

You may find that if you cannot self spot then if you work someone and by chance they are not aware of SOTA ask them to spot you on the DX-Cluster.
I (and others do) monitor that cluster as I am interested in dx stations but when I see a SOTA spot there (which is not on SOTA spot) I relay that onto SOTA - so another option for you.

And if you have an Android phone, install the Rucksack Radio app
http://www.dl1dlf.de/rucksack_radio_tool
as you can spot by SMS without having to remember how to format the SMS (which I could never do!)
(Other apps are available).

Ok, thanks for the information very useful. Downloading the backpackers app at the moment. Never thought about getting someone to spot me on the dx cluster, thats a good option. Yeah few things there to chase up. Hopefully I’m more successful this time round. Looking forward to it.
