HB9NBG + HB9FZC in Television

Hi SOTA-Friends

A few days ago - just before the Winter came into the Swiss Alps, Carine and I took a cameraman and a reporter from the Swiss Television “Canal 9” with us to a little SOTA-hike to show them how cool it is to combine Mountain-hiking and Amateurradio. Yesterday the report was finally broadcasted on the TV-channel  Have fun and vy 73 de René, HB9NBG + 73/88 de Carine, HB9FZC

That’s a nice video - shame I didn’t understand much of it. I’m impressed that the reporter’s name is Antener - very appropriate!

Hi Richard and thanks very much  oh yes, his name fits perfectly :+1: The report is produced in native Swiss German - seems not to be easy understandable indeed for English talking people  But Carine and I like it very much, and so we didn’t want to keep it from our SOTA friends  Good SOTA and vy 73 de René, HB9NBG + 73/88 de Carine, HB9FZC

A great video, thanks Carine and René.

If it ever is published by Canal 9 onto YouTube, it may be possible to turn on AI-generated subtitles that can then also be auto-translated into other languages. I enjoyed not only what was said but also the friendly and clear way the hobby was presented.

Hi Ed and thanks very much  It was a very spontan action; The people from Canal 9 were made aware of us after our little project with our participation to the Marconi VHF CW-Contest in Salvan about 2 weeks before:

They contacted us and asked, whether we could show them how amateurradio works. Carine and I thought, that SOTA is the best way to thrill the TV-viewer about HAM Radio :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I don’t know, if they load up their videos to YouTube!? However, I’m really satisfied as well, how the tells the story with the video - also without words

Oh this is great, I found out about this contest during some research recently. I hope it went well!

Hi Ian and many thanks  The topography is very difficult for VHF in Salvan, but for us it was the “coup” to be QRV at that place, where Marconi made the first transmission in history, that counted. However it went not bad
