Yes, there are other ways to measure wire. Yes it is a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist. Yes, I like to experiment with different solutions to see if something works.

I’m regularly told I won’t catch much. When I point out that it’s not the first time I’ve heard that they are always surprised. People think they are so clever.
Of all the [apparently] witty remarks I get on summit about my telescoping pole, the most popular is “What are you hoping to catch?” [or variations]. To which I shoot back “Flying fish!”
Just think how my wife felt when she used to be the stoker of our tandem. If we had a pound for every time someone shouted “she’s not pedalling”, I’d be able to buy a new Kuhne transverter😁
