GM/SI-040 Gains a Mast

If anyone ever heads up Cruach Choireadail GM/SI-040, you may be lucky enough to find a carbon 6 mast, lost on the way up.

It’s only been activated three times in 20 years, so statistically it’s probably becoming a permanent installation.

Thankfully my walking pole stepped up to cover mast duties. Promoted on the spot.

Very unfortunate Tim.
Great improvisation though !
I guess this explains your SPOT … ‘Compromised antenna’ …

Ah, but… is it finders keepers?

Well done on rigging the antenna and activatingthesummit. I sometimes use both poles for antenna support, tie-wrapping them together at the handles. I even have a guying kit and extension tube for the set up and it will support a 5 element 2m yagi. Maybe one day it will become the standard set up when I need to lighten my load.

It would have been brilliant, of course, if you could have scanned the ascent route with a mini drone and, after finding the mast, shown the photo to Shadow and asked him to retrieve it… that might seem a bit futuristic at first glance, but possibly not entirely impossible, hi.
