Hi Fraser,

We won’t be able to join you for tea and cake at Glenshee but will hopefully manage S2S from GM/WS or GM/SI.

Myself and Alan MM0VPM will be based in Plockton then for SOTA.

We may retire to the Plockton Hotel after for some refreshment under the palm trees, depending on the midges !

Ahh brilliant, I’m off work that week - might tentatively say Glas Maol GM/ES-012 for now, although if the weather’s good, I might be tempted into a bit of a longer CS expedition into Glas Tulaichean GM/CS-012 and the neighbouring hills with an overnight at Loch nan Eun.

Ideal, thats me booked in on GM/ES-043 Duchray Hill. Weather dependant I’ll be in the area on the 7th or the 9th as well activating nearby summits.

That forces me to find a new hill  Tentatively Meall Alvie GM/ES-055. WX dependent.

A few big lumps in the way, so hopefully HF plays kindly, either that or we catch a few aeroplanes…

I’ll do my best to be somewhere near, seeing as how you’ve picked a day without snowstorms (:crossed_fingers: )

Well that’s me signed up for the GM/ES ‘Bun’ fight. 0900Z on ES-058 (if successful it will be a 13cms Complete for me). Note that Chris RVZ will be Activating also. We can keep each other company - hi! Possibly if time permits I’ll head over to the other local ES’s that I have ‘bagged’ on uW for more Completes.

To do this hill I really need to come up the day before and stay overnight. So I’ve swapped to Hill of Persie which will be a unique for me. It’s LOS to Mount Blair, you could reach out and touch it almost. Badandun is actually hidden. But there’s enough big hills to get a bounce if it doesn’t work direct on 13cm. And whilst I’ll only be running 2W, there’s enough metal on Mount Blair summit to hopefully scatter some signal. Or we can all beam at the Angus TV mast which rises about 200m above all the obstructions to the S/SE. Jack on Meall Mor will be also be trivial on 13cm.

I may do Meall Mor on the way home after buns and coffee in Braemar. Of course all depends on the WX playing along.

Not this time. :up_arrow:

Ah, read the post Andy  I’ve never even noticed that place on my journeys up and down the A93. It gets good reviews too so looking forwards to sampling it.

Is there a target time for tea and toast? And thanks for highlighting the venue, it was going to be the 2 Andys in Braemar!

Typically it’s been around 1pm (local). Google maps suggests around 11mins for the drive from the Ben Gulabin parking to the cafe. Double that in case of fogeys who can’t drive or tractors. My computer says 1hr16 mins from parking to summit of Ben Gulabin, probably 45mins down. Adjust activation start / stop times from there.

That’s a good target time, although there are a few that turn up late. (Archie @GM4KNU for example ).

Oops….ok I’ll try and make the cafe on schedule:crossed_fingers:I may travel up on the Monday which will help and try to limit the time on HF after microwave and vhf contacts.

The weather looks like it might be showery which will discourage me from loitering on the summit and be late for the scheduled cafe pit stop.

Unfortunately it’s just too early for the next M3ZCB/M1MAJ GM tour. We’ll be in GM/SS from the following day, up to the GM/CS and GM/ES northern borders the following weekend, and back to a different part of GM/SS the weekend after.

Looking a bit wet and windy for Tuesday. I might leave the HF behind and stick to 2mFM. The Beaufort Scale suggests that I might experience some difficulty walking against the wind, but offers no advice on the more useful SOTA activities of mast erection, paper logging and signal readability. At least it’s not snowing like the last date!

I’m confined to barracks without transport at the moment, so I will keep an eye open for any HF activity. Hopefully one day I will get up to GM/ES to join in the fun.

My best wishes to you all for an enjoyable day. Safe travel, ascents and descents.

Unfortunately I’m already committed tomorrow so won’t be able to make it - hopefully next time though.

Good luck to everyone taking part and wishing you good contacts, company and weather!

Hi Fraser,

Sadly I won’t be able to chase tomorrow after all.

The weather is just too wild over on the West coast so I’m going to head South today.
