Glyders and Tryfan Linear Route

Hi All
at the end of August I am looking at re tracing the route of G4OBK (Phil)
Catterblog: Day One of a Two day SOTA visit to Snowdonia - July 2017

Any suggestions or advice please.
Also the fellow walker that is going with me is looking at taking a nice scenic walk over part of the Lake District , He is going to be staying in the Ambleside area.

Paul

Hi Paul,

I cannot comment on all of Phil’s route, but in May this year we hiked up to Y Foel Goch, Glyder Fach and Glyder Fawr from the car park lay-by at the Pen-Y-Gwryd hotel (be sure to pay for a car parking ticket). We were going to continue on and do Y Garn, but the weather wasn’t looking great so we descended via Cwm Cneifio to the A4086 and then hiked back up past the YHA at Pen-Y-Pass and down the other side to our car… in total it was 10.2 miles/7hrs 30 minutes, but a very pretty route nonetheless. I was even allowed to activate Glyder Fawr, although my wife did give me a bit of a hard time about all the contacts on 2m, as my promise to be 5 minutes on the radio soon turned into 25!

The view of Tryfan from the Glyder’s is pretty impressive!

I hope you have a great time. If I’m around the Lakes I’ll listen out for you on the handie.
