Gear selling

I don’t sell stuff very often but I feel the need to thin out some of my stuff. It’s difficult as I love my rigs, but also my shack makes me unhappy because there’s so much stuff in there.

What’s the best site for moving stuff on? I only really do SOTA, so my rigs are QRP and portable specific.

G3CWI’s Fleamarket, Ham radio Deals or eBay. The sellers fees are paid by the buyer now on eBay.

OK, I’ll maybe try ebay, thanks.

Hi Colin,

For audience, I’d say eBay, but you sometimes get challenging customers, hence I don’t sell as much now. That’s no different to CWI’s site, GumTree or Facebook Marketplace of course. There are always people who have slightly skewed expectations.

At least on eBay you can run a blocked buyers list, so you can save yourself future hassle by blocking some of the cretins…

You can sell quite a lot of low value goods (i.e. below say £10k) for no fees on eBay, so it’s probably a good option. If you are willing to sell to people based outside of the UK, you’ll also open up a lot of additional potential customers. Be careful about which countries you send to though, as some have recurring delivery issues.

Colin,
Assuming you can sell your stuff successfully, it might be enough for this beauty.
So, good luck.

KX2 “loaded” on ebay

Nice rig.

Ultimately I’d like to raise funds to re-attempt my Hebridean DXpedition. I would quite like to obtain a mid band QMX for the trip.

I think everyone here knows about your excellent kit Colin. Perhaps the best approach before putting anything on the Flea Market website or eBay would be for anyone interested to email you. Maybe give it a couple of weeks, then seek a wider audience. I’m a member of the De Montfort ARS and this approach works for the society members. I suppose it depends how keen you are to dispose of kit. Is time of the essence?
