Gaulfest 2024 - photos and reports

I had a great day too, thanks for organising and picking a good weather day Jimmy @M0HGY!

Titterstone Clee Hill G/WB-004 first for me. Wind was bitter. 10M CW was a bit slow, a switch to 20M qualified the hill, then back to 10M to get some for the challenge. Was briefly on 2M, but not for long as it needed me to be on top of the hill in the wind.

Next off to Brown Clee Hill G/WB-002. Similar story across 20M and 10M, and again set-up was about being out of the wind!

Finally across to Long Mynd G/WB-005. Not as a cold as I feared it might be with the lack of shelter. Set-up just down from the summit with a nice view and had a good selection of US stations on 10M CW. Packed up when Tom and Jimmy arrived as I’d qualified the summit and then didn’t need to worry about frequency co-ordination. Quick hello to Kevin @MW0KXN as he arrived to join the summit party. Thanks to Jimmy for use of his set-up for the 70cm S2S with Viki @M6BWA and apologies for vandalising your guying set-up and bringing the mast down!

Then off for a nice cup of tea, eccles cake and chat at the cafe. SOTA is generally a solitary pursuit for me, so it’s nice to meet and talk with other SOTA folks in person.

Slightly disappointed when I uploaded my logs to realise there were no relatively easy points for me, nor new summit multipliers for the 10M challenge. When planning my day, remembered that I’d done these summits for Gaulfest LAST year, forgot that I’d been round them again already in March THIS year. D’oh!
