FT8 has been a great success. However most SOTA activity seems to be on the HF bands. There is plenty of FT8 activity on 2m and with various scattering modes, antenna polarisation is probably not critical. Many people are reporting stations hundreds of km away under flat conditions (possible aircraft scatter in some cases). It’s probably something that is worth a go and would perhaps be a bit more interesting than HF?
Hi Richard, I have had some success with FT8 on 2m, best so far G4DBN at 212 miles, I only have an indoor beam and 50w, so not expecting miracles but good fun anyway !!
