Trans Equatorial Propagation to reach St Helena I would guess.

This is the Propquest map.

TEP plus something I think. St. Helena is 1800km South of the Equator so the other TEP point tends to be about the same distance the other side of the equator. Now I know the magnetic equator is not coincident with the geographic equator, but allow for tilts between the two, 1800km North is somewhere into Mauritania or Mali or such. So there must be something else to get the signal the remaining 4000kms to G-land.

Perhaps a ground reflection on the first hop? Although this map from “The Magic Bands” book suggests the magnetic equator is quite far north so perhaps it might be done by TEP alone from the UK although from Scotland seems a stretch.

Well when I worked ZD7 the other day (SSB) it was conventional propagation - but that was on 17m!
