FT-817 speech compressor

As the Sotabeams speech compressor is out of stock with no date as to when it will be stocked again, does anyone have any suggestions as to a replacement?

Or this one if you also want a voice keyer.

That’s rather cute… I think I’ll have to order one of those.

Thanks for that Pom :+1:

That one (DG7ACF) looks very similar to the voice keyer kit that SotaBeams also sell.

I’ve got one I’m happy to sell - my modified microphone is enough for me.

A very good recommendation
If you have problems with RF on the mike, there is a simple solution. Ground the shield of the internal Mike cable with 10nF. If you prefer a nice crisp modulation, put a capacitor of about 470pF between the wiper and the hot spot of the internal audio gain potentiometer.
This brings a significant improvement in syllable understanding.

Here is the audio comparison of the modified speech memory and the out of the box MH31 mike. Only audio, black video.

Thanks Alan. I’ll email you separately.

Thanks Allan.

Thanks. I may have found one but if not I’ll let you know.

Thanks everyone for all the ideas and suggestions. Some good thoughts there to mull through.

Speech compressor (now v3) and voice keyer are available again. The links stay the same.

Time to start plannings for another DXpedition! Maybe you find somebody to join your order and so shipping and collecting cost would be split.
