First time offence is a warning and ticket to get it fixed. Second is a £1000 fine. It should fail a MOT unless the owner fits legitimate plates for the MOT and retrofits the illegal ones after. That confirms they know they are committing an offence.

Must be the only Policeman in NE Scotland. I never see anyone unless the Royals are around.

I do see MOD Police on patrol on a daily basis, but they are gun-totting anti-terrorist guys and girls who are definitely not interested in the smaller than legally allowed plate on the front of my Landie.

Hmmm… Slightly pre-dates the Defender, but I spent quite a bit of time behind the wheel of this beast and its successors on private roads in my youth (a year or six before I was old enough to get a licence)…
