Good question, there are peaks and Peaks - and May started this year like April normally does.
So it can still snow overnight up to above knee height, so nothing for sneakers, hi.
Friday, May 17, 2024, I went to Fresnes-en-Woëvre, in northern France. Via ON/ON-030. This was my last SOTA in Belgium, which I hadn’t activated yet. A very steep climb, with tall and stinging plants. Hiking poles are not a luxury. I made 24 QSO’s at 30 meters. WX was vy nice. Later that day, it was raining. Then i drove to the apartment.
The wx was not so bad as expected. So I activated 3 SOTA’s.
FL/NO-065
FL/NO-070
FL/NO-068
Because of all the rain, the tracks were not so fine. So I sometimes slipped. But in the end I made te “top”. The one-pointer was hard work for those little points.
The last SOTA had nice view. Finally. All the summits were in the wood, so this one was vy welcome. And even a wooden chair and sunshine……. In the end a fine day for SOTA.
Hb/ai-005 and hb/ai-006 is fine. Picture is 006 last Saturday.
You can see in the picture that on higher mountains you should still expect snow. If you need infos regarding these summits, just ask. 73, Peter
This is Altmann hb/ai-002. i took this photo from säntis hb/ai-001 mid April 2024. As @HB9BCB wrote no activations before July so far. Furthermore the last ascent is t5.
