F/AM-532 le Mont Razet F4IYY

Hi everyone,

Find here my activation report from yesterday 2023/03/05 on F/AM-532 le Mont Razet.

One month ago I did activate I/LG-309 Monte Grammondo but we were short in time with a friend on our way back to stop at F/AM-532 Mont Razet, more … it was cold.
My wife was kind enough to give me activation ticket for the day. Let’s go!

After 45min driving I parked near the water thank at Col de Castillon and started to hike from here. It was really sunny this time so 1h20 to climb 430m via a small forest. I did not capture it unfortunately but I have been able to observe a doe in the forst.

I was discussing the week before with Gérald F6HBI that at Baisse de Scuvion you can reach the summit from N-O with a small track. No on all maps but it is here (maybe from treckers or hunters) heads up & follow the purple trace (make sure you get them insight, in case you loose the track you can reach the summit with small/easy climb, but the track goes to the summit).

Limited space at the summit, one antenna only, but there are rocks where you can stick mast, sit and threes where you can gently attach end of wires for dipoles. Activation where fun (I hope we get in touch!) and sunny.

1h30 later it was time to go back heading S-E you reach the other highest point of the summit which is 100m away. The way back via la Pierre Pointue is nice but longer that going backward. You can visit the Blockhaus it is quite clean.

There is also a very intestring place (for historical purpose) the experimental acoustic observatory. A soldier was standing facing a wall in a semicircle, the intensity of the echo allowed the listener to know where an enemy came from. Not really sure it really worked or was used but something to see.

On the return, path is quite rocky, you may feel it is long but you end up on a small road that bring you to the car parked near the water thank.

It was a good day and again, I was very happy to talk with all of you!

Bye everyone.

Thank you, I have only visited the Maginot Line in the North near Luxembourg. I did not know it extended so far south.
