Looking at the latest predictions from OK1HH published in the September “FunkAmateur” German amateur radio magazine, it looks like the long path contacts that we have been enjoying on 20m between VK & EU may be coming to an end, or at least becoming less likely. The diagrams show however that short path using 30 - 80m bands between 1800 and 2100 UTC should now produce results. It should be noted however that these predictions are based on 1KW erp into a dipole 1/2 wavelength above ground. Something few of us will have on a summit!
In any case, make the best of the long path conditions while they are there.
