Database Error

Quite a few people will have seen the following error come up when using the database.

"Server Error in ‘/’ Application.

Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm
or cluster, ensure that configuration specifies the same
validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a
cluster."

Followed by lots of “computerese”. I’ve had a few bashes at trying to fix this in the past and not been successful. Well maybe, just maybe, I might have got a bit further this time. It should be fixed. Famous last words.

If you see on of these messages come up, please email me (mm0fmf_sota AT intermoose.com and put the word DATABASE in the subject) and let me know. It was always a bit spurious so testing is not easy.

Getting lot’s of different errors today, e.g. from view chaser log:

Database Error : System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): The conversion of a varchar data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value. at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError(SqlException exception,

and more generally on just about every query:

The conversion of a varchar data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value.

Is it just a glitch?

Yep. It’ll go away tomorrow.

Meanwhile, click on the “Show All Logs” and that bit will work just fine.

Yep. Andy’s comment (when I sent him a report earlier) was a little more down-to-earth.
