Cracking day on Mendick hill.

The weather forecast was for warm and sunny today so I opted to get the bus down to Dolphinton to activate Mendick hill GM/SS-195.
The walk in was shirtsleeves in sunshine and a decent cooling breeze. An hour and a quarter got me to the trig point and bench seat. This is a luxury summit !

Only 16 QSO’S today but 10 were on 2m. Nine of those were FM with one on 2m SSB, a bit of a novelty for me.
Three s2s today on 2m, the highlight was 174km to Robin GM7PKT on Mull GM/SI-031.
HF wasn’t great today, 20m had a lot of static crashes but a grand day out in the sunshine.
I finished off with a walk down to West Linton for the bus home, my first linear walk activation.

Mendick Hill is one of the few summits where my XYL has accompanied me. She commandeered one end of the bench and me the other, while Paul G4MD set up close by. Altogether a pleasant hill… if I forget the moans from the XYL about ground conditions. Maybe I should have taken her to Galloway first so she knew what rough ground is really like.
