Cq Österreich (01/05/2010)

hello all,

i just wanted to let you know that tomorrow (01/05/2010) it is not only a public holiday in austria … there will be lot’s of austrian amateurs qrv on 80m, 40m and 30m.

every year on the 1st of may the AOEC (All Austrian Contest) is taking place. the main activity will be on 80m, but also on 40m and 30m there will be austrian stations qrv. it’s a local contest, so only austrian stations will contact each other.

on 80m and 30m there will be government-stations active with callsigns like OEY611, OEH5101, OEK310 qrv … these stations are ONLY ALLOWED TO WORK AUSTRIAN STATIONS. as this is also a emergency test these government-stations are qrv on 30m ssb also (CQ EMERGENCY TEST AUSTRIA). regular austrian amateur stations are allowed to answer these stations also in ssb on the 30m-band.

in the past years the presence of these government-stations on the 30m-band caused a lot of confusion, because normally it is not allowed to use this band in ssb. foreign stations can only obtain a qsl-card by sending a SWL-reception report.

the time of the contest/emergency test is:

05:00 - 08:00 and 14:00 - 17:00 UTC

the frequencies used are:

CW: 3510-3560 / 7000-7025 / 10100-10120
SSB: 3600-3650 / 3700-3775 / 7060-7100 / 7130-7175 / 10120-10140

between 08:00 - 14:00 i will be listening out for sota-stations … and on sunday i will be activating one or two summits myself. c u on the next sota

i found a good link about the AOEC-contest and especially the government-stations. the last update of that site has been in september 2004, but nevertheless it’s an interesting webpage:

the contest is over … here is my report:
