Correction 2E0YYY...Should be G/SP-015 + Report

Activating G/SP-015, I accidently spotted myself on G/SP-013. This should read G/SP-015 Cloud. It was picked up very quickly by Mark G0VOF. The only chasers I’m certain had the wrong summit call were Phill G4OBK and Dow WA4HMX.

The last time I was on G/SP-015 there was snow on the summit. Today was quite different story, fantastic sunshine.

It was a last minute activation to try some 12m.

12m was hard work and after 20 minutes of shouting, I had 3 contacts in the log, one K1 one G0 and one RA2. Even the mighty Antron-99 didn’t want to know. Not to be deafeated, I tuned it up for 15m and found the band in good shape. Fourteen Stateside chasers logged and the easiest contact of the day V85XD. The A-99 got me straight through to Brunei on my very first call!

A last minute call on 12m found a solitary LU and that folks was that. Tom M1EYP arrived on The Cloud for the UK 6m contest and being the kind hearted soul that I am, handed him the 12 band

Thanks to all the chasers, especially Stateside for such a big effort.

Hello Mike,

Well done.

I worked a V85TL the other day on 15 (R57) - band has been open for a few days now. I posted a SOTAspot for SAfr station on your f. calling you -not sure if you got it. As winter approaches it will be interesting on higher bands

Did listen for you but zilch.

Night night.

I’m not too sure what was happening, Mike. I finished up with about 58 contacts but with about 250 hits on my qrz page, this was not reflected in my log.

At one time, I was well up the list of qrz.com hot callsigns, so I’m a bit baffled.

Thanks again for the contacts! I am usually up early (my time) as most of my business in in Europe. So keep those higher bands coming!! It sure starts out with 20M even before the sun rises and then moves up quickly.

Always a pleasure to work Stateside, Kent. Hopefully out tomorrow depending on work commitments, on what may be a unique for you, between 1200 and 1300 UTC.

That woudld be great! I am hoping to be on a few new summits in West Virginia Sunday. My antennas seems to be working very well having done a few S2S to EU. Since my stays will be brief, I will run a full 100w on my Ft 857 (with the FT817 as backup), and I will try to run more bands, as my antenna is good from 80-6M with a special listen to EU.

Kent, K9EZ

PS- you guys (and gals) are fun!

Many thanks for taking the time to call me, Erik.

Just keep listening, there are plenty of EU Activators who love to work the higher HF frequencies.

'till the next time…
