Correct callsign in Austria?

Hello,

I have an upcoming family trip to Austria. While mother and daughters are in their “wellness” sauna, I hope to be in my own SOTA “wellness” areas.

Anyway, I was looking at the OE ARM document, and now I’m confused as to exactly how I should sign my call.

There are several numbered regions in Austria. For instance, Tirol (OE/TI-xxx)is /7. The ARM also states “Bei Portabel- und Mobilfunkbetrieb bitte den entsprechenden Callzusatz anhängen!”(my translation: “During portable and mobile operation, please add the respective call suffix!”).

Do people really do that? Which call should I use?

  • OE/HB9DST/P (seems to be what most people do, using no slash number)
  • OE/7/HB9DST/P
  • OE/HB9DST/7/P
  • OE/HB9DST/P/7

Any advice from our Austrian SOTA friends?

This sentence seems to be from the time, we were not allowed to use /p or /m - but that’s now invalid…

According to CEPT-License for OE please use OE/HB9DST/P.

Chris is right OK, but not completely.
We Austrians portable can use both suffixes, the old form /n with the number of district, ie. Tyrol, Salzburg etc. or the new simple /p, which not allows to recognize the country area of portable operation in Austria.

So, just to distinguish my friends call OE7HPI, Holger from my own call OE7PHI, which is very similar to Holgers and often confuses chasers, we decided as for useful separation

OE7HPI/n is Holger, whenever operating from an Austrian summit
(n means the number of the OE district, ie. 7 or 2 and so on)
OE7PHI/p myself, Hansjoerg (John) whenever operating from an Austrian summit.

Hope this helps to avoid possible irritations in future, hi.

Anyway Paul, your call is correct as
OE/HB9DST/p

It’s very easy to find the right callsign in OE.

If you are …
portable = /p e.g. OE/HB9DST/p everywhere in OE

mobile = /m e.g. OE/HB9DST/m everywhere in OE

airmobile = /am e.g. OE/HB9DST/am over OE

at a fixed station e.g. by a clubstation in Upper-Austria
e.g. by OE5XCL use OE/HB9DST/5

or by a fixed station of an OM-friend in OE7
e.g. by Hans-Jörg OE7PHI use OE/HB9DST/7

Hope it’s easier for you to choose your right callsign in OE :wink:

Es gibt ja einige Möglichkeiten, die wurden ja aufgezäöhlt, diese ist falsch:
OE/7/HB9CZF
Um näher zu bestimmen, wo Du bist, kannst Du :
OE7/HB9CZF/p geben, dann weiß die Gegenstation, daß Du in Tirol bist, wenn Du zB OE2/ … gibst, dann bist Du in Salzburg, so ähnlich wie:
IN3/ … , dann weiß man, daß Du in Südtirol bist, oder:
I/ …, dann bist Du irgendwo un Italien.
Auf jeden Fall ist immer ein “/p” anzuhängen, denn Du hast ja keinen Wohsitz hier, auch wenn Du von einem Haus aus funkst.

Dann mußt Du ein OE Rufzeichen haben, außer Du bist weniger als 3 Monate hier, dann das /p. Die 3 Monate Regel gibts ja in den meisten Ländern. Sprich mich das nächstemal an diesebezüglich - erzähle ich Dir was interessantes dazu!!!
