The form has no feedback when the error occurs.
Most likely you haven’t completed the captcha. I’m travelling right now and won’t be fixing this in the next week or two, but the form does work.

That’s interesting, I did not see a captcha above the send message button yesterday
I logged in this morning, and it’s there. 
I’m not seeing the captcha. I’ve logged out and back in.
Had this behaviour from a few non-sota sites lately (errors about not completing captcha, but no captcha shown). Wondering if something’s changed at the captcha end.
I have just checked using Firefox 146.0.1 logged in and I get the captcha. Brave 1.86.148 not logged in and I get the captcha. Both on Debian Linux 13
I tried on Android Brave logged in and got a captcha.

And against better judgement, I tried Brave in a Win 10 VM and also get a captcha.
Aggressive ad-blockers can hide CAPTCHAs.

Adblock Plus was stopping it from appearing. Perhaps a note on the page to say if a captcha doesn’t appear then to disable ad-blocker.
For reference, this occurred on my work laptop which has no adblockers and is on my network which has no adblocking (pihole)
If I encounter it again, I’ll post a screenshot and any console errors I see.
