Many congratulations Fraser. A brilliant summit to get your Goat on.
Thank you!
Mo and I had a nice day out on one of our favourite mountains, on the nicest part of our favourite island. It was our third ascent of Ben More, Isle of Mull GM/SI-003. Hard going on sodden ground.
At the top, I set up my KX2 and an EFHW, then experienced a pile up to end pile ups! 40 m was buzzing with chasers. Then the WAB squad got wind of my rare square and it started all over! 20 m was tougher with QSB, but I still managed 45 QSOās overall. Thank you Chasers! Great to work many of the stations that have been there to get me out of the poo in dreadful weather or poor band conditions when I just needed that fourth contact. Big thanks to Ben @GW4BML for the fourth contact and the qualification today. The pile up was so intense, i could not pick out calls, but I heard his distinctive voice.
Sorry if folk were looking for me on 2 m. We were both freezing cold, as the cloud came over and there was a stiff northerly wind. Mo had her full winter down jacket on, hood up and wooly hat on too! Sorry we had to bale @GM4JXP Simon. We nearly always manage a S2S.
I didnāt film the activation. I am actually introverted (honest) and decided I just wanted a simple hike with my wife and to enjoy talking on the radio at the summit. I donāt like a lot of fuss or big occasions.
Later that evening, we celebrated with a lovely seafood platter at Cafe Fish, Tobermory and then a dram back at the cottage.
When I started SOTA in 2021, I judged it would take me ten years to attain MG at my current rate of hill climbing. Little was I to know it would open up a whole new world of Marilyns, encourage me to get out several times a week and also undertake big multi-day hikes that Iād been thinking about for years.
Then I decided to start a youtube channel and somehow ended up on TV!
Iāve met amazing friends on the air, in person and on here & other channels. Thanks for your encouragement.
Finally, a big thanks to the volunteers (MT) who make this the best amateur radio programme on the planet.

Well done Fraser, Iām afraid I missed you - was between summits, but thank you for the complete the previous day on S Airde Beinn (GM/SI-153). We also had an excellent meal at Cafe Fish something Iām hoping to repeat in the future along with another trip up Ben More.
All the best and congratulations⦠Paul G4IPB
Well done indeed Fraser. Glad I made your log on your MG summit.

No worries Fraser. Iāll get you on your 2nd MG
Hear hear!
Congratulations Fraser. Thanks for supporting 2m here in the north.

Congratulations Fraser, a good story to read.
The seafood platter looks a proper celebration and sure youāll get on with more milestones in the future.
Cheers and 73 Ignacio
Many congratulations Fraser. I read often your postings and now about your MG. Thatās fine.
I send you a dram of 16 y. Lagavulin (sorry, only virtually - so I had to drink it by myself
when typing this post. But if you will visit our region in the future we will have some together.)

Many congratulations Fraser, glad that we have had a small handful (3??) of s2s on the way. Your Ben More pictures looked lovely but I can well imagine how cold it got when the cloud came down and the north wind started up. It was on our list when we visited Mull for the first (and only?) time in June but the weather was awful and I was lucky to get up 3 small hills. Please donāt give up going up hills now you are a MG (fat chance!) as we all enjoy your photos and videos and I hope to hear from you again next time we are in Scotland.

Congratulations Fraser.
Thanks for the chaser points and excellent activation reports along the way.
73, Robin.
Congratulations Fraser, fantastic achievement - and a brilliant activation to hit the 1000 points too!
Moreover, thank you for your immense contribution to the SOTA community with your superb videos/YouTube channel, and, of course, your significant input, coordination and support that resulted in the highly successful piece about SOTA on national telly!

Congratulations on MG status!!
Paul
Congratulations Frazer. Thank you for sharing so much of your journey on your YouTube channel and your great write up on your MG activation, the seafood looked amazing.
Great to see photos of your MG activation Fraser (did we expect anything less?). Unfortunately I wasnāt able to break your huge pile up and when the number of callers thinned out your signal slid into the noise. Should have gone out portable this end!

Congrats, Fraser!
Hope to hear you on the air one day at the peak of the solar cycle.
