Chuck served as W4V’s first Association Manager and authored the original edition of the Virginia Association Reference Manual.
He began his SOTA journey on February 9, 2011, by activating Virginia’s very first summit, Clark Mountain (W4V/SH-058). Fourteen years later, on September 9, 2025, he achieved his 1,000th point on Hogback Mountain (W4V/SH-007), officially earning Mountain Goat.
