Over Christmas the RSGB runs a series of very short (2 hour) VHF/UHF contests that could fit in quite well with SOTA activations. Details here:

Looks interesting. Who are Macc playing on Boxing Day?
Quite fancy taking 6/2/70 and doing a bit on all three bands in each session. Each session from a different SOTA summit. Probably not including Detling Hill though.

I think the trouble with these contests is that they spread out all the available activity over four VHF/UHF bands during the same operating periods. Given that activity is likely to be very low during the Xmas period anyway, I fear there may be a shortage of stations to work on each band! I’m not sure that I would be tempted out on a cold December day, just to work a couple of stations in a 2-hour period!
Perhaps I’ll be proved wrong …

No, I hadn’t seen that. It seems better than I thought. I suspect most of the participants are operating from home stations, though.
