I’ll do 40 again tomorrow (Boxing Day) morning. Hopefully then more G chasers will be available to take advantage of the condx.
The latest storm took down my EFHW antenna at home, which had only been up a month, otherwise I would have given a shot at 40M chasing today. I need to splice the wire where it goes through the small roller at the top of the mast, and find a better way to attach it to the mast. I suspect the movement of the (rather flexible) fibreglass mast and the wire in the wind, perhaps combined with the small diameter roller led to either a fatigue failure in the wire, or simply a break due to being overloaded in tension.
I did get up Foel Fenlli (GW/MW-051) with the dog today using my FT-2D for a quick 2M FM activation - thanks to the chasers who came back to me!
