I’m busy with nautical activities at the moment and missing my SOTA activations.
But today I was fortunate to be able to combine activities a bit.
I managed to chase Archie @GM4KNU on Ben Ledi GM/SS-023 and Tom @MM7XXI on Allermuir GM/SS-171 from St David’s bay about a mile East of the Forth rail bridge whilst laying race marker bouys for the 707 fleet today.
I was also fortunate to hear @GM4AOR/AM as he was gliding above Loch Leven this morning and we managed an /AM to /MM QSO as well.
The racing was quite exciting today too and the blue sky and sunshine helped although it was a cold East wind at sea level.
If you are /MM you have to be outside territorial waters so you can’t be in Scotland or in Scottish Waters, so M7MOX/MM else MM7MOX/M when inside the territorial waters.
I think we have ruminated (at some length) in the past on this subject
But the licence has changed. There is no longer a concept of /MM or /M any more - suffixes are optional. The licence just says:
The Licensee is authorised to:
a) establish, install and use the Radio Equipment in and over the United Kingdom, the
Channel Islands and the Isle of Man in each case including their territorial sea; and
b) use the Radio Equipment aboard any ship or aircraft registered in the United
Kingdom, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man in international waters or airspace
No, on a high as I have just finished work for the day. Unblocked two projects for my Indian colleagues. They finished a while back so tomorrow when I log in I’m hoping for an inbox full of solutions not problems from them. And I have planned out how to add some data logging to a program so that the logged data can be replayed at a future time making regressions for these systems simpler and repeatable. Quite a bit achieved even if I say so myself.
I’m just finishing off for the week (I work Monday - Wednesday) and then it’s a week in Scotland.
Tomorrow it’s Great Whernside G/NP-008 for my MG activation. And then hopefully a couple of activations while in Scotland. I haven’t applied for permission from @MM0EFI so I hope I’m allowed across the border.
That was granted a while back, however we, the GM0ESS Society, are yet to receive your cheque. At 115% interest per day, the sum due is rather mounting up.
That’s great news! If you were to try SSB, we could have a S2S attempt.
That’s great! And a rubber boat, too! The area where I live is at
sea level or close to it, and some parts near here are below sea level. I could go out in the car to one of the islands of the delta and do some chasing from below sea level! That would be hard to do
in your boat! Whoops!
