I was sad to read that Bill G4KKI died recently. Bill was a keen early SOTA activator who enjoyed combining hill-walking with radio. He was a skilled home constructor, making much of the gear that he used in the hills.
RIP Bill.

Sorry to hear that Bill G4KKI is silent key, it has been years since I last worked him.

In reply to G3CWI:
Sorry to hear the news Richard. I remember Bill used to take his grand-daughter out walking with him, but I hadn’t spoken to him for some time. It wasn’t that long ago that I came across his contact details and wondered how he was.
You were always the gentleman Bill. RIP.

I too was very sad to hear of the death of Bill. He and I studied for the RAE back in 1979/80 along with Kevan G4PMV at a school in Swinton under the tutorlage of Pete Whatmough G4HYE - we were the 3 musketeers on the table at the front . Bill was always interested in top band and CW having learnt morse in the army. I kept in touch with him for many years over the air and visited the shack many times. I last spoke to him on 2m back in October 2012.
RIP Bill it was a pleasure knowing you.
