I think I might just send it to a family member in Germany, and collect it when I visit!

Hi all,
From the big island the opposite is also true and less cheap !
For a declared value of £21.99 I just paid tax of £11.63, which is over 50% :grimacing:

The bamakey seems to be very well designed in the mechanical aspect. But …

… in my opinion this is not necessary.

For the real outdoor use, optical sensors or even better hall sensors would be more robust. The additional effort in electronics woud pay off. There is a reason, why the latter solutions are often preferred in industry electronics.

A proven solution that does not have the unwanted contact problems is the Pressure Paddle from VK3IL.
The Funkamateur shop has had a kit for this for some time (photo below).

Thats an interesting solution too.

But personally I prefer the haptic feedback of mechanical paddles.

The pressure paddle also has mechanical contacts, so the “haptics” are no different for me - and this is drowned out by the sidetone in the headphones anyway, hi.
