Bad CQWW-CW WE

Difficult to work summits this WE !
specially on 10m
But not many attempt on 12 and 17m
Maybe I’m wrong, all spot were here without result ?
There is still tomorrow

I had to qsy up over 28.120 and had to move several times. Also grabbed a few contesters. Probably could have gotten more but the weather chased me home.

QRM?

I wondered why there was CW on 28.074 yesterday, the contest might explain it.

I did a double activation with my little girl this past Saturday. During my first activation the temps were too cold and wind too stiff to stay on the summit long at all (she’s only 2yo). I had to QSY to above 28.120 and had to pack up very quickly for health’s sake.

Our second summit after a few 10m QSO’s for the challenge points, I switched to 17m and made several more. 13 Q’s in 15 mins and would have loved for more, but the main focus was giving the child a good time and not boring her in the cold.

Yes. Big sigs covering either my freq or near enough that they overwhelmed me. Good thing there is plenty of bandwidth on 10m

I fully intended going out /P on a SOTA summit as much as possible this last weekend, collecting lots of unique callsigns for the 10m Challenge. As such, the swamping of the main bands by contest activity would not have bothered me or inhibited my activating.

From The Cloud G/SP-015, the idea was to use the Tall Trees Contest Group SCC of G5D and hopefully gather some credit towards renewal by entering in the 10m-only QRP Classic operator section!

However, the weather was so unpleasant that even I was put off! Instead, I operated from home as much as domestic arrangements, football matches and sleep would allow. This had the convenient advantage of warmth and shelter, as well as 100 watts from the FT-991A, all-band capability (160m/80m/40m/20m/15m/10m) and slick CW contest operating supported by N1MM+.

The disadvantage is that my approx. 300 QSO entry in the all-band 100w section is almost certainly not attracting any points towards the renewal of G5D for the Contest Group! A QRP 10m entry from a summit may well have done.

I forgot to say that the lack will be on CW, but it made sens !
Hunting only new unique summit in CW with my modest means, fortunately the SSB part was free of QRM !
Saturday I followed Ed @K1RID on these many QSYs but I couldn’t get his attention

Sunday contacting Matt @W4GO was easier

Thanks for being patient with my attempts to sift through the pile-up, Eric.

The thing about only operating on the second day of a two-day contest is you’re fresh meat to the school of piranhas, hungry for a non-dupe.

It was “interesting” trying to serve both SOTA chasers and contesters. I attempted to guess which callers were which and give a real report and no CQ zone to chasers, fake 599 report and CQ zone 5 to contesters. A few times, I guessed wrong, no doubt confusing those callers just a bit.
