You can use the SOTA cluster now to feed you spots. It’s read only and will push spots to you within 60secs of them being available on SOTAwatch. It’s push based so you don’t need to regularly poll either.
cluster.sota.org.uk : 7300
I would prefer using the API so I can get more information like the sota name, ASL, points, etc
and nevertheless I have already the code done. Is there any API guide available for the new endpoint?
You can find all of that in the summitslist.txt on SOTA data.
SummitCode,AssociationName,RegionName,SummitName,AltM,AltFt,GridRef1,GridRef2,Longitude,Latitude,Points,BonusPoints,ValidFrom,ValidTo,ActivationCount,ActivationDate,ActivationCall
3B8/MU-001,Mauritius,Mauritius,“Piton de la Petite Rivière Noire (Black River Peak)”,828,2716,57.40771,-20.40882,57.40771,-20.40882,10,0,01/08/2026,31/12/2099,0,

I don’t need to use an additional file. All is already there in the API spot.
This is approved now, but you missed the bit in the docs where this is a volunteer run organisation with no SLAs on anything. I was travelling for work so didn’t immediately action your request. Sorry (I guess).
Thanks Andrew,
I know, we are all volunteer here, guided by passion.
And sorry if I pushed to have my request approved, but my concern was also that I could have made a mistake in the requesting process.
Anyway, thanks for your help!

Understood. But it isn’t really required for summit-info as the data is pretty static. Apps like PoLo and SOTA Activator use an offline database with the summits.
Anyway, saw you got your request approved now ![]()

Hi all,
Instead of creating a new topic, I wanted to reply here and request to be the designated contact for my own homebrew chaser app (single user - just my home station, N4NAS, not distributed/sold). Per the ToS, I wanted to note I have been using AI-assisted development with personal review before commit. Could I get the required approval here?
Currently, I poll the SOTAwatch spots/alerts endpoints every 60sec with ETag/If-Modified-Since and exponential backoff. I identify with descriptive User-Agent including callsign. The software currently tunes my FT-891 as receive-only (never TX, never posts to SOTA). Polling stops after 20min unattended.
Seeing the note about the cluster, I’d like to move my spot feed to cluster.sota.org.uk:7300 and drop spot polling.
Happy to adjust anything about it if preferred.
Thank you for providing this service!

You are welcome to use the cluster to feed your app. Have a play with a terminal program first to see what happens etc. because there’s no docs
I use netcat normally, so nc cluster.sota.org.uk 7300 and follow the prompts.
In case you are concerned about affecting the cluster and other people’s enjoyment during your development, there is a developer’s version of the cluster running at cluster.sota.org.uk 7373. This is for developer testing, CHASERS DO NOT USE because it may reset/go off-line at random.
Have a play Adam and PM if you need more help/advice.
Thank you for the approval, the quick response, and suggestions. Will do.
Also, nice “This Island Earth” avatar. Good movie. I need to watch it again.
