One would figure she’d find a way. She and my 36 year old daughter both have PhD’s from U.C.Santa Barbara. Lorene is a low noise receiver designer for astronomy, and so is a key member of our SOTA management team, G4TJC, who is the cryogenics guy at Jodrell Bank Observatory. Lotta talent in a very small group.

Great achievement Lorene. Glad I was able to work W6Q, a fellow alum of the U of IL, during QoM. I had the pleasure of meeting Liz and Ron at Clingmans Dome in 2018.

Thanks, everyone, especially Amy-AG7GP & Paula K9IR for putting on the event. I am honored to receive the K1LIZ award - but it is really a team effort. Most of the achievements in the QoM event required the participation of other women on summits. It was only possible because of all the women who came out to activate peaks, especially Amy-AG7GP, Carol-KE6SRN, Linda-KN6GOH, Sheri-K6SBB, Meghan-KL5AF, Julie-N6EKO, Di-KO6BTM, & Joyce-K0JJW. I was lucky enough to chase or S2S with them, and to do a joint activation with Deedee-KO6BIE. I hope next year’s solar conditions will allow some better propagation to hear the East Coast & Midwestern women. Thanks to everyone who came out or supported the event!

Congratulations, Lorene, on the first K1LIZ award! There is no doubt that it is well deserved. You look like someone she would have enjoyed meeting so I hope a little part of her stays in your heart.

Congratulations, Lorene! That’s quite an honor and well deserved. K1LIZ was an amazing person, and I still get a lump in my throat every time I think about her. I was her last SOTA contact.
