Line 7 shows massive times for lag-12.ear2.London1.Level3.net and lots of dropped packets. Level3 is a major internet backbone provider and it looks like there is an issue there.

If I connect via my VPN host in Zurich then I don’t touch any Level3 routes and it’s in Speedy Gonzales mode. But if I try from nr Edinburgh (virginmedia) or my VPN host in Moldova, then I go through Level3 routes and it’s not snappy but working fine.

Are you on BT Esther? BT on a regular basis decide that their grown-up and adult customers need to have the internet filtered in case they see a boob or bum. I mean, we have to think of the children! So what may have happened is BT have turned on filtering and it thinks crabdance.com is home of the worst kiddie-fiddling-filth there is and it blocks everyone who uses the crabdance.com domain.

Try the eminently wonderful other free dynamic DNS provider (it’s in Switzerland so of course it works properly and reliabnly) as BT don’t mind this one.
