Hello to all,
Sierra Nevada located to the south of the Iberian Peninsula has a score of peaks of more than 3000 meters, including Mulhacen, which is the highest in Iberia. But only 4 summits meet the SOTA criteria: Mulhacen EA7 / GR-001, Veleta EA7 / GR-002, Alcazaba EA7 / Gr-003 and Cerro Pelao EA7 / GR-004, in the video there are images of these peaks.
Last August 1, and taking advantage of a mountain route that my club makes through Sierra Nevada, I put EA7 / GR-003 on the air. I also took the opportunity to participate in SOTA FM DX EA.
We did the access to the summit in two stages, the first leaving Trevelez to the “Cañada del Goterón”, about 1200 meters level up, and the second from Goterón to Alcazaba, about 600 meters level up.
The equipment used was KX2 with EFHW, (it also carried the AX1 in case there were too many people at the summit) and an FT23-R with its small antenna.
Finally:
37 qso, 20m 23, 30m 7, and 2m 7.
2 S2s in HF and 1 s2s in VHF
