Activation Report: Mt. Jurupa W6/CT-212 on 8/August/2014

**Activation Report of Mt. Jurupa W6/CT-212 8/August/2014

Bob, KJ6VGX and I started out early, early for me anyway, so
we could get to the top of Mt. Jurupa while Bob, KB6CIO and Martin, WN6E were on Strawberry Peak and Hal, N6JZT was on Josephine Peak. While still enroute, Martin and Bob were calling CQ from Strawberry Peak (W6/CT-086).

When we arrived at Martin Tudor Regional Park, Bob was looking forward to his first activation and this would be my second. We grabbed our gear and started up the hill, just beyond the microwave tower. There is no maintained trail, you just hike up the steep, foot worn and deeply rutted ridge line.
Looking back on the way up.

It was a foggy morning, but that kept the temperatures down. Once
you get up a ways you will find more of a trail and better hiking. Once in the
activation zone we setup the Icom 207H and Elk 5 element Log Periodic Antenna, powered by a 12 ah battery.

Operating position. Sorry no pictures of Bob.

We called CQ and first up was Charles, KM6CEM. We made the summit to summit contacts with Bob and Martin on Strawberry Peak (W6/CT-086) and Hal on Josephine Peak (W6/CT-025). Bob made his contacts, also, to make it his first official activation. All-in-all we had a lot of fun.
