Activation planned W0

Hi there!
I am planning an activation of a summit in the region near Denver or Colorado Springs this weekend (7th/8th of June).
Does anyone have a recommendation for a nice trail that is not too demanding, and suitable for a group of 2-4 hikers?
I was thinking maybe of Fairburn Mountain, W0C/SR-053.
I would also be happy if anyone wants to join us, my other company are non-hams.
If anyone plans another activation in that area and would be fine with company, I would also be happy if I could join you.
As for the rig, I have my Quansheng with me and will try to activate the summit on 2m FM and CW.
I am happy to receive any comments or feedback on my current plans.
Thanks a lot!

Hi Barbara and welcome to Colorado!
I wouldn’t recommend Fairburn Mountain as the trail only goes part way to the actual summit AZ. Also, that hike really doesn’t have any nice views as it’s in the treeline.

Here are some better choices:

  1. Green Mountain (near Boulder)
    W0C/FR-085

  2. Mount Herman (near Monument)
    W0C/FR-063

  3. Chief Mountain (near Evergreen)
    W0C/FR-030

You can reach out to me via email if you have questions or need info regarding trailheads and route beta: wa6mm “at” comcast “dot” net. My QRZ page also lists my email address.

Brad,

thanks again for your reply and your recommendations!
Sadly, something with my email Account does not work properly at the moment, so I write here again.

As one of my friends prefers to do the Bear Lake Tour, we tried to find another Summit in that area.
At the moment we think about hiking to the Flattop Mtn. or Emerald Mtn., as they are close to Bear Lake.
Do you have any comments on that for me?
Or other suggestions over there?

Furthermore, if you (or someone else) would like to join our tour, I would be more than happy about Ham-company.

Thank you once again!

Hi Barbara,
We really need to talk rather than post here. Does anybody in your group have email access to send me your cellphone number? I won’t post my cell number here.
