The snow was present last night in the high peaks but the day started cool and dry perfect for a walk near home. This time a small summit was chosen to try again my new half-wave dipole.
Initially disappointed by the state of the propagation I did QSY to try other bands. I kept calling for an hour but no response to my call made me think that something was wrong this time on my portable station. Standing waves were controlled but something strange was happening only nearby station could hear me. I decided to stop and pack all material, it will be checked later at home.
After lunch, I found out that my coaxial cable was used as an antenna instead of a transmission line, I had a loose connection on one side maybe produced by handling. At the moment I write this post all is repaired and ready for the next SOTA activation, 73s.
